Sport's heavyweight contribution to the economy
Growth in the sport sector has outstripped the English economy as a whole over the past two decades, new research has revealed.
The sport economy’s annual contribution has reached £16.668 billion - increasing 140% in real terms between 1985 and 2008.uced rates secured by competitive tendering.
Sport England has announced the creation of a new, simple to use, system to help organisations involved in sport improve the way they plan facilities provision and drive efficiency savings.
We’ve set up five groups of approved suppliers - made up of companies specialising in town planning, needs analysis and playing fields – so that our partners can manage procurements quickly and efficiently, whilst benefiting from reduced rates secured by competitive tendering.
Consultation on how National Lottery funding can support competitive school sport
Sport England is seeking views on how best Lottery funding might support the new Olympic and Paralympic style school sports competition announced by the Government.
We’d like to hear what you like or dislike about the plans, if you think additional areas need to be developed and what impact you think the proposals will have. The consultation runs until Friday 15 October 2010.
