Clubmark For
Clubs Whose Governing Body Awards This
Accreditation
|
|
Clubmark is a national
cross sports quality accreditation scheme
for clubs with junior sections. It is
built around a set of core criteria that
ensures that clubs operate to consistent,
accepted and adopted minimum standards. |
|
This is becoming an
essential need for many clubs and although
the process may seem long it is crucial that
clubs show that they are committed to
providing high quality coaching and
welcoming, safe environments for young
people to play sport. |
|
There is a website
dedicated to this purpose which offers clubs
all of the tools and resources
necessary to complete the process. |
 |
|
Being awarded with
Clubmark will benefit your club in a number
of ways, you will find that although some
parts of the process may be lengthy you will
benefit at the end as you will have in place
all of the systems, policies and procedures
to develop your club and coaches, increase
membership and participation, sustain growth
and benefit from 100% discretionary rate
relief. |
|
It is also a good exercise in that it helps
to identify roles for volunteers and
members, future plans and also makes
members/volunteers more aware of the part
they can play within your club. |
|
Many clubs rely on a
small number to carry out a variety of roles
and tasks, this process can help delegate
these roles and encourage younger
members/parents to take on more of a
responsibility to secure the future of your
club. Don’t forget that once you have
Clubmark or the equivalent you will be
entered onto a national database and other
directories that will promote your club and
give parents confidence when choosing a club
for their children. |
|
It is a great opportunity
to take stock as it were, dust off the
archives and come up with new and exciting
plans to take your club forward. |
|
Please be aware also that
many funding organisations now and in the
future will only fund sports clubs with an
accreditation so now’s as good a time as any
to get the ball rolling. |
|
Here is the link to the
Clubmark website and don’t forget that Sport
Kingston and the Active Kingston Team are
here to help you so if you have any queries
or need our assistance then please get in
touch. |

Pro Active South London
is now licensed to award Clubmark to those
clubs whose governing bodies are unable to
do so, as long as your sport is recognised
by Sport England -

|
The process is the same
as above, and you will use the resources and
documents on the Clubmark website but you
will then have to send all of the paperwork
to your local authority which in Kingston’s
case is the Active Kingston Team who will
then check that you have everything in place
before sending it to Pro Active for
accreditation. |

Due to the positive
response to our mapping exercise of Clubmark
and working towards clubs this time last
year, it has been decided to rerun the
exercise for 2009. Clubmark clubs continue
to support sustainable sporting opportunity
with an estimated 800,000 young people being
members of Clubmark or working towards
clubs. |
|
The number of Clubmark
clubs continues to rise and has increased
nationally from 4,125 August 2008 to 5,410
(31%) August 2009. Further, the number of
working towards clubs has also risen, during
this time, from 4,161 to 4,511. All these
clubs have committed themselves to
developing school-club links and development
plans. |
