Speedo Open Water Swim Series - Poole Swim

The Poole Swim is on! After consulting with the Poole Lifeguards and other authorities, we have rescheduled the Poole Open Water Sea Swim for Sunday 2nd October. Due to popular demand we have opened up the race to those people who had not entered the 11th Sept swim but want to join in the fun on the 2nd of October. Entries close in a few days!

Human Race have secured an amazing deal for you at the official race hotel - the 4 star Sandbanks Hotel. The hotel will be used for race registration and is the perfect place to stay for the race weekend. Full details of this offer are on our Poole Swim Race Page.

Toshiba Windsor Triathlon

In August we revealed that the 2012 Toshiba Windsor Triathlon will take place on Sunday the 17th June and will once again play host to the British National Elite Championships.

There are just 100 places left for the 2012 event so if you are looking to take part get online here and book your place as soon as you can!

2012 Calendar taking shape...

The last few weeks have seen lots of 2012 events opening for entries and with so many to choose from we thought you might appreciate a little round up of the highlights from the first half of the year...

Top of the list is the Toshiba Windsor Triathlon, which has almost sold out. Before that comes the traditional season opening at Dorney Lake, with the Eton Super Sprint Saturday and Sunday on the 19th and 20th of May.

If you are looking for an excuse to visit the other side of the world in 2012, there's no better way than to book your place at the Age Group World Champs in Auckland, New Zealand early via the Eton Sprint Distance Triathlon on 27th May.

There's no reason to sit idle before the triathlon season kicks off when there are so many great run events to choose from. From the Race Your Pace Half Marathon on 18th February through to the Whole Foods Market Breakfast Run on 1st April, there's no excuse for not starting your season nice and early!

Jim stepping up...

Any of you that are regulars at the Toshiba Windsor Triathlon, or indeed any of you that watch the coverage on Channel 4, will know about Jim McKellar, our oldest competitor, fundraiser for Help the Heroes and all round great character. After successfully completing the sprint distance at Windsor in 2011, what does he do in 2012? Take on the Olympic distance of course. Here he is in training with the new flag Channel 4 have supplied him with so we can all keep track of him in the swim... Go Jim!

Upcoming Events

2011 is far from over for Human Race events and there are still plenty of great races to get involved with before the Christmas break. Following on from the HSBC Triathlon last weekend we're now heading into the centre of one of the UK's most scenic towns for RunKingston.

There are both 8.2 mile and 16 mile versions available so why not come down on the 9th October and test your legs? The 16 mile distance is perfect for those preparing for the New York Marathon just four weeks later. There will be accurate mile markers on a very flat course which is ideal for pace judgement for your big day. ENTER RUNKINGSTON HERE

After a packed summer of events, the colder months see roads and water make way for mud and mayhem! The ASICS Off Road Series sees four events, all challenging in different ways, and all featuring off road runs and mountain bike courses designed with fun in mind! Don't be put off by the names and check out IceMan at Frimley on 19th November, MudMan at Camberley on 3rd December, WildMan at Guildford on 21st January and TuffMan in East Grinstead on 4th February.

If the road is more your kind of thing but you still like it tough, the RG Active Winter BallBuster is the event for you. Saturday 12th November sees anyone brave enough tackle the 8 mile run, 24 mile bike, 8 mile run duathlon, with all three legs involving multiple laps of the notorious Box Hill circuit.

The BallBuster is a very popular event amongst duathletes, it's known as one of the toughest and is not for the faint hearted. It's a race that is on the 'must do' list of every multi-sport athlete in the country, and will test your fitness and stamina to the max! ENTER HERE

The Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run

If running is more your thing, in October as well as the 8.2 or 16 miles RunKingston (Sunday 9 October), we are proud to announce a new event, the Shock Absorber WomenOnly 5k or 10k Run (Saturday 22 October) in Richmond Park. The park, at almost 2,500 acres, is the largest of the Royal Parks and is home to some of the capital city's most varied and colourful wildlife including 650 free roaming deer.

The course winds its way through the park's pastoral landscape of ponds, gardens and grasslands set among ancient woodland, keeping to completely traffic-free, tarmac roads at all times. There is even a 'Run with your Buggy' race for those who want their little one to experience the thrill of running! Full details on the Shock Absorber WomenOnly Run can be found here
