Coaching!
At
Worcester
Park
Cricket
Club |
|
|
|
Budding 14-25 year old cricketers in Worcester Park can benefit from free cricket coaching from Worcester Park Cricket Club, starting on Monday 4 July from 6.30pm at the Green Lane ground.
Worcester Park Cricket Club has benefited from funding from Sportivate, part of Places, People Play, the £135 million mass participation legacy plans unveiled by the Government in November 2010.
The coaching course is aimed at 14 to 25 year olds who may be new to the sport, or who have not played for some time, and are now keen on reigniting their passion for the game.
The Sportivate course will capture the excitement of sport and London 2012 to provide attractive and sustainable community opportunities for participants aged 14-25 in the sport of their choice. Activities will last for six weeks, after which participants will be encouraged to progress through the existing club structure to continue their development and progress through to the senior sides.
For more information or to book your place please contact Club Coach James on 0753 008 2269 or email info@wparkcc.co.uk
Worcester Park Play Cricket online: www.wparkcc.co.uk
Worcester Park CC is a Clubmark Accredited club, and has been identified as a Focus Club, working with Surrey County Cricket Club.

Mad
Hatter’s
Walk
along
the
Thames
Pathway
-
Sunday
5th
June
|
| |
|
 |
 |
|
To celebrate Macmillan Cancer Support’s centenary, all walkers will get a birthday treat on the annual Mad Hatter’s Walk. |
| |
| On Sunday 5th June at 1pm, a charity Mad Hatter’s Walk along the Thames Pathway will take place to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. As happens every year, participants are asked to wear a special hat on their walk and as always, the bigger the better. Participants can enter competitions to win fantastic prizes for categories such as ‘best hat’, ‘best under-18 hat’ and ‘best team hat’. |
| With more than 250 people taking part, Macmillan aims to raise £30,000 to help support local cancers services. Walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome and have the option of walking either 4 miles or 10 miles, starting from St George Wharf or Hay’s Galleria. To make this year’s event even more special, there will be celebrations at the end of the walks to help celebrate Macmillan’s 100th birthday and all the fantastic work the charity has achieved over the last 100 years. |
| One of the main prizes up for grabs is a bejewelled ‘Dazzle in the Azure’ headband, which has been donated by Louis Mariette, a London-based celebrity couture hat designer who has designed hats for the likes of Lady Gaga, Pink and Joan Collins. |
| Louis Mariette said: “The gift of life is extraordinary and to embrace it with energy and passion no matter what circumstances we are in is so important. That is the view I take on life – treasure it, respect it and don’t become complacent. Macmillan has always been a beacon of light as the team have great energy and such fun projects, working together to raise awareness and fundraising for such a crucial cause that provides endless support. From personal experience, I have belief in them as I have had family and friends in circumstances where the charity has been invaluable, so I take my hat off to them!” |
| Ali Jinnah, Macmillan’s South West London Fundraising manager, said, “This year, we’re really making a big party out of this event. We’ll have Mad Hatters galore and a fabulous tea party for all our faithful walkers. After all, one hundred years of raising money for people living cancer is worth a little celebration!” |
“We are sure that all our fun and frolics will help raise our target £30,000 for our worthy cause of supporting people affected by cancer.”
This is the first year Boots has supported Macmillan’s walks programme and their promotion of Miles for Macmillan will make it even bigger. Boots UK is already an important partner of the charity. Through their long term partnership, they will deliver more ways to access information about living with cancer on the high street, in local communities and online and increase awareness of the breadth of vital services that Macmillan provides.
For more information contact Ali Jinnah, 020 8222 9020 or email AJinnah@macmillan.org.uk / madhatters@macmillan.org.uk
