We
are
still
able
to
access
Mayors
Legacy
Funding
for
candidates
covering
up
to
75%
of
the
course
fee
in
return
for
volunteer
hours.
Candidate
must
live
or
work
in
London
and
carry
out
their
volunteering
at
an
organisation
in
London.
Funding
will
only
be
available
for
courses
starting
up
to
31
March
2012,
so
do
not
delay
in
applying.
All
of
the
ASA/UKCC
courses
detailed
in
this
newsletter
including
our
flexible
learning
packages
are
eligible
for
the
funding.

National
Pool
Lifeguard
Qualification
(NPLQ)
The
NPLQ
is
the
industry
standard
qualification
for
Pool
Lifeguards.
It
is
open
to
anyone
age
16
or
over
at
the
start
of
the
course
and
is
able
to
complete
a
basic
swimming
test
consisting
of:
- 100 metre swim on back
- 100 metre swim on front
- 50 metre swim in under 1 minute
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to 2 metres in depth
- Climb out of water unassisted

Direct
comparisons
between
2009/10
and
2010/11
statistics
are
impossible
due
to
the
major
changes
introduced
to
the
qualification
structures
with
the
move
from
the
NQF
to
QCF
in
January
2011.
They
do
however
show
a
continued
high
level
of
success
which
as
ever
we
are
striving
to
improve
further.
Learners
who
have
not
achieved
standards
for
QCF
qualifications
have
all
been
offered
opportunities
to
complete
work
on a
flexible
basis
with
tutor
support
either
in
their
own
workplace
or
via
a
placement
with
us.
