Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes in Kingston by Yoga Army

I’m an established yoga teacher who has just moved to Kingston and I’m very excited to be teaching classes in the town every week.

I teach 60 minutes of Vinyasa Flow yoga to a sound track of hip hop music every Saturday:

10-11am
Kingston University
John Galsworthy Building
Room PRJG2001

11.45-12.45
Kingston College
Room G27

The classes are normally £10 when booked in advance/ £12 drop in rate. They’re suitable for newcomers to those who have been practicing for a little longer and they're a brilliant way to unwind after a full week at work, socialise, or simply get fit in time for Christmas! You don’t have to be super flexible, all you need is a yoga mat.

Opportunity for Individuals with Injuries & Impairments
Free Strength and Conditioning instruction
by professional Crossfit coaches

Are you currently involved in some form of gym or strength based training?

Do you want to benefit from 6 weeks FREE Strength and Conditioning instruction by professional Crossfit coaches?

Are you able to travel to Twickenham once a week to contribute to a coach education programme?

If so St Mary’s University want to hear from you!
CROSSFIT OPPORTUNITY IN TWICKENHAM, LONDON.

Within the disability sport community, there is a lot of a focus on/or expectation that the end goal is the Paralympic Games. But what if the end goal was just to be the best possible version of yourself through regular, sustainable, supportive and impactful strength and fitness training? The notion of adapted Crossfit is very active in the USA, however the UK is not as progressive and we would like to help push things forward.

BlitzCrossfit gym in Twickenham is working in collaboration with St Mary’s University to develop a coach education curriculum which would allow their crossfit coaches to feel able to adapted and include individuals with impairments and differences in their classes. Spurred on by the Invictus Games in May, we hope to educate and train the coaches over the summer months on how to do this with knowledge and confidence

Blitz hope to ride the Paralympic legacy frenzy and be in a position to offer adapted cross fit classes in Sept 2016. The idea is that these classes will be focused on adapted provision, with the hope that as an individual becomes more skilled, confident and strong they can choose to train in either the specific adapted classes or with the other classes on offer at the club (Don’t worry – we’ll advertise this when the classes are ready to go!).

Right now, we are looking for people who are already doing some form of regular fitness and/or strength training to join in the practical sessions so that the coaches can learn from YOU about adapted instruction and what adapted strength training looks like.

Sound interesting or want to know more? To ask any questions and for more information please contact Natalie Campbell at St Mary’s University through email: Natalie.campbell@stmarys.ac.uk

Ride For Kingston In The Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100

If you love cycling and also love living, working or learning in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 may be the perfect challenge for you.

If you love cycling and also love living, working or learning in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the Prudential RideLondon Surrey 100 may be the perfect challenge for you.

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the event follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside.

With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event for all involved.

The route is perfect for both club and recreational cyclists over the age of 18. Slower cyclists can enjoy a challenging ride while faster riders will relish the opportunity to pit themselves against the country’s top amateurs.

As well as the personal challenge of completing the route, participants’ involvement will benefit the local community as Love Kingston supports local charity and community projects in the borough.

We'll make sure you have what you need including a cycling jersey, location en-route for refreshments and your supporters and pre-event meet-up.

This is a truly awesome experience and we’d love you to be part of the team. Please get in touch by 20 May 2016.

Adult Park Running Training Groups in Richmond Park, Kingston-Upon-Thames

At Momentum Sports we cater for athletes of all abilities. Our latest group is designed to give novice and intermediate level runners a great grounding in how to get the very best from their running.  Park Running Training Groups
It is going to be run from Kingston Gate Car Park in Richmond Park, Kingston-Upon-Thames on Sunday mornings at 11.00am.  Sessions will last one hour.

This makes it easily accessible from much of south-west London, from areas like Kingston, Richmond, Teddington, Twickenham, New Malden, Surbiton and Worcester Park.

Sadly life often gets in the way of training and it is easy to go many years without regular exercise. Starting to exercise again after a long break is tough. It means making time in your week to train. It means feeling uncomfortable and it can even be embarrassing. And so we put it off. And another few years pass.
Others have made the step into running and manage to get some initial success on their own. However, injuries, lack of companionship or hitting a plateau you can't break out of have got in the way.

Why not come and join us? We want to use our expertise to help our adults to get out of these ruts. We know the secrets about transforming bodies and minds and get people training alongside other adults with similar goals.
We have a group for novices and near novices that starts by learning to run for very short periods of time and gradually build up to being able to run a few miles comfortably.

A second group is for those who can already run a bit but want to run further, faster and more efficiently. For instance, people coming back to running after a long gap often adapt a running style similar to fast walking (as this is what the body is used to). We will help your body to move freely again, just like we did as children.
The groups stay close together so that no-one gets left behind and everyone encourages each other. There is no shouting or screaming (we fundamentally don't believe in the "boot camp" type philosophy). There is just be helpful advice and encouragement to allow you to push your body and start feeling years younger again.

We have set the price of these sessions at £60 for 3 months or £100 for 6 months, with a trial session to see if you like it being £5. At this price we are the lowest price providers of professional running training operating in the area.
So, why not come and try it out?

Football Coaching - Development Centre In Kingston

Football Coaching - Development Centre In Kingston
At Sports Active Coaching we provide the coaching of all teams at Kingston Town Football Club who play in the Surrey Youth League. On a Monday evening we currently run a development centre on the 3G pitch @ Tiffin Boys School for under 9s and 10s from 5-6pm and for under 11s and 12s from 6-7pm.

Sports Active Coaching are currently looking for more children from the borough to take part in both these sessions
The aim of the development centre is to improve and develop players technically and tactically, so we produce technical players who have better football intelligence and game understanding.

We also have a games programme in place so there will be chances for your son to represent the development centre in matches against academies and other development centres.

Players from the development centre have gone on to play better for their Football Club, played for Kingston borough football team and have also had trials at clubs like AFC Wimbledon, Brentford, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Fulham.

The coaches for the session all have UEFA B coaching badges or have experience coaching at academies. The coaches are also DBS (formerly CRB) checked and first aid trained.

Axé Capoeira UK was created in London in July 2006. Our classes teach healthy living, appreciation of a multicultural environment, creative expression and self discipline to all students. We aim to engage the community in celebrating cultural diversity, explored through the music, physical expression and art form inherent in Capoeira. Our members believe that in learning Capoeira, individuals will

  •  Improve general fitness & strength
  • build their confidence
  • improve their coordination & flexibility
  • learn the meaning of mutual respect.

Meet our AWARDED TEACHER !!!

In October 2010, Marcus Cabeça was nominated for the Kingston Sports Awards and received the Eileen Gray Trophy for motivating and being an inspiration to others to reach their full potential.

“Marcus Cabeça has a rare quality which combines a serious attitude towards his work and the importance of including the wider community in that work alongside a sense of fun and playfulness. Unlike other leaders in sport, he is very talented at quickly understanding the differences between individuals that he teaches; what their personal challenges and situations are and then works from that base, knowing how best they can make more of the unique strengths that they possess. I feel very privileged to be part of Axé Capoeira”.

If you have a disability and are interested in joining one of our classes, please telephone Marcus on 07931 770153 to check suitability.
